Description:
Tenapanor, also known as AZD-1722 and RDX 5791, is a first-in-class, small-molecule inhibitor of the gastrointestinal sodium/hydrogen exchanger NHE3. Tenapanor possesses an excellent preclinical safety profile and, as of now, there are no serious concerns about its side effects. Tenapanor acts in the gastrointestinal tract to reduce the absorption of sodium and phosphate, with minimal systemic drug exposure.
